Christina Tosi, Chef, Founder, and Owner of Momofuku Milk Bar
The best advice Christina has ever received? "From my mother: 'Christina, just be yourself.' Also, make sure you really mean it, and you're getting into whatever business for the right reasons. From there, keep your head down, protect your sense of self, and whatever you do, keep pushing!”
While she had enjoyed baking as a hobby throughout her youth, Christina spent her college years studying math, Italian, and electrical engineering. It wasn’t until graduating that she moved to New York to pursue her childhood ambitions, beginning in the pastry arts program at the French Culinary Institute. During the program, she volunteered at several restaurants in a variety of roles, one of which involved drafting food safety plans for David Chang’s acclaimed NYC restaurant, Momofuku Noodle Bar. From there, she was able to pitch in to help the growing restaurant line through other tasks, among them working with David to experiment with his menu's dessert offerings. He was impressed by her work, so much so that when the storefront just beside his went on the market, Christina was poised to be the founding pastry chef at the new extension of the brand, Momofuku Milk Bar.
In addition to her role at @milkbarstore, Christina is an acclaimed cookbook author and a judge on both MasterChef and MasterChef Junior.
