Peggy Whitson

Peggy Whitson

Peggy Whitson, Biochemistry researcher and former Nasa Chief Astronaut. She holds many records — the oldest woman in space and the record for total spacewalks by a woman (8). This year, she became the first woman to have commanded the International Space Station twice and just this week broke the record for most total days spent in space by any NASA astronaut (over 534!).

“Breaking records has never been my goal. I think it’s important that we’re continually pushing our limits and showing that we can extend beyond what we have done before. "

"The advice I give young people is that you have to pursue something and you have to have fun along the way… One of the most fun things to do while living here is to just be here."

She joked— "Space flight’s good for age, I have a lot less wrinkles up here. It’s a good place to be as you get older.”
